Viral Video: Monitor Lizard Gets Stuck in Motorbike Wheel in Sumatra, Indonesia

Share:

A woman in Binjai, North Sumatra, was left stunned after discovering a monitor lizard trapped in the front wheel of her motorcycle.

The incident took place on a city road. The rider had no idea that what she had run over was a large reptile. She only realised something was wrong when the bike felt unusual. When she stopped to check, she found the animal wedged between the shock absorber and the front wheel.

Residents quickly gathered around her. The monitor lizard appeared completely still despite being firmly stuck. Some passing motorists slowed down, amused by the unusual sight.

At one point, the reptile seemed to be staring directly at the motorcycle’s licence plate, which only added to the awkward scene.

Residents Step In

Several locals tried to figure out how to free the animal. Their conversation was captured in the viral video now circulating online.

“I can’t do it, I have to cut this monitor lizard, its hand is stuck,” one resident said, sounding both confused and slightly overwhelmed.

Despite the dramatic suggestion, no cutting was needed. After a few tense moments, the monitor lizard managed to free itself from the wheel. It slipped away, unharmed.

The rider then continued her journey as if nothing had happened.
Strange road incidents are not unusual in Indonesia, but this one has certainly caught people’s attention.

For many online viewers, it was the reptile’s calm expression, and its unexpected “inspection” of the licence plate, that made the moment unforgettable.
