Community and Health: How Osteria GIA’s New Initiative Supports Women’s Growth

Share:

Osteria GIA is bringing women together for a community discussion focused on perimenopause, as part of its ongoing Women of Osteria GIA campaign.

In collaboration with Sahabat KIAN, the Italian restaurant brand host Women of Osteria GIA in Conversations, a talk and share session addressing the theme “Achieving Perimenopausal Independence” at Osteria GIA Plaza Indonesia on 20 August 2026.

The event is designed to provide a space for women to discuss perimenopause openly while gaining information and perspectives from experts and fellow members of the community.

Women of Osteria GIA Focuses on Perimenopause

As women enter old age, they inevitably face the cessation of menstruation, or the menopause. The menopause is a natural process affecting a woman’s reproductive hormones in her 40s or 50s, caused by changes in oestrogen levels.

However, symptoms associated with the onset of the menopause can begin as early as 10 years beforehand. This phase is known as the perimenopause, a transitional period experienced by women as they approach the menopause.

During perimenopause, the ovaries produce fewer hormones, leading to irregular menstrual cycles. Women are often unaware of these changes, largely because open conversation surrounding this topic remains scarce and insufficiently discussed, leaving many to navigate the physical and emotional shifts without adequate guidance or support.

The discussion forms part of Osteria GIA’s Women of Osteria GIA campaign, which aims to build a community where women can connect, exchange experiences and support one another through different stages of life.

The campaign describes its purpose as creating “a space to speak honestly, listen with intention, and lift one another through every season of life”. It adds that “when women come together, growth becomes shared, and every conversation becomes a source of strength”.

Through Women of Osteria GIA in Conversations, the brand is extending this initiative into a community talk show centred on meaningful discussions and shared experiences.

The session on perimenopause feature perspectives from Dian Purba, Happy Salma, Lena Budiman and dr Dinda Derdameisya, Sp.OG. The discussion is being hosted by Arletta Danisworo.

The programme include talks, an interactive question-and-answer session and community sharing. The format is intended to encourage participants to discuss their experiences and concerns while learning more about the physical and personal changes associated with perimenopause.

Under the direction of Chef Tommaso Gonfiantini, Osteria GIA serves Italian cuisine alongside Italian cocktails and a selection of wines from around the world. Since opening in 2020, the restaurant brand has expanded to eight locations across Jakarta, Surabaya and Semarang.

Osteria GIA describes itself as more than a restaurant, positioning its venues as lifestyle destinations where Italian cuisine, hospitality and experiences bring people together.
