An ordinary attempt to sit down turned into an unexpected rescue operation for a woman in Padang, West Sumatra, after her leg became trapped between the support beams of a small shelter. Unable to free herself, she remained stuck for around two hours before firefighters arrived to help.

The incident took place on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, on Jalan Flores, Ulak Karang Utara, North Padang District, Padang City. The woman was reportedly trying to sit at a small shelter located in front of her boarding house when the accident happened.

According to witness accounts reported by Indozone, one of her legs accidentally slipped into a narrow gap between the shelter’s supporting beams. When she tried to pull it out, however, her leg became stuck.

Her friends initially attempted to help her escape from the awkward position. Despite several attempts, they could not get her leg out of the gap.

What started as a simple moment of sitting down soon turned into a situation that required assistance from the local emergency services.

Firefighters Arrive After Two Hours of Failed Attempts

After the woman had been trapped for approximately two hours, her condition began to deteriorate as she became increasingly exhausted. Realising that they could not safely free her themselves, the witnesses contacted the Padang City Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar).

Firefighters subsequently arrived at the location and began the evacuation process, working to release her leg from between the shelter’s supporting beams.

The rescue was also captured in a video shared by the Instagram account @pratama_pilar17, showing the evacuation process carried out by the emergency team.

Following the operation, the woman was successfully freed. However, she was reportedly in a state of shock and exhaustion after spending so long trapped in the narrow space.

According to the information shared alongside the video, she was subsequently taken to a nearby health clinic for medical attention.

Although the incident ended with a successful rescue, it was an unexpected reminder that even a seemingly harmless everyday activity can sometimes lead to an accident. Thankfully, the local firefighters were able to step in and help when the situation became too difficult for her friends to handle.
