Riyadh Air will launch direct flights between Riyadh and Jakarta on 16 November 2026, establishing a new air link between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. The service will operate three times a week, connecting King Khalid International Airport (RUH) with Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK).

The new route marks another step in the expansion of Saudi Arabia’s national carrier into the Asian market. It is also expected to strengthen connections between the two G20 economies, supporting business, tourism and religious travel.

The inaugural flight from Riyadh, RX0869, is scheduled to depart at 22:50 local time on Monday, 16 November, arriving in Jakarta at 12:00 WIB the following day. The return service, RX0870, will leave Jakarta at 15:00 WIB and arrive in Riyadh at 20:15 local time.

New Route to Support Business and Religious Travel

Riyadh Air said the new service would improve access to Saudi Arabia while supporting the growing economic relationship between the two countries. The airline also plans to increase flight frequencies as demand develops.

“We look forward to increasing the frequency of flights on this route as demand grows,” said Tony in an official statement provided to the media in Indonesia.

The route comes amid continued trade between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Bilateral trade reached US$6.6 billion in 2025, while trade in the first half of 2026 totalled US$2.6 billion. The automotive sector has also played a significant role in the relationship, with annual trade exceeding US$1.7 billion.

Beyond business travel, the new connection is expected to provide additional options for Indonesian Muslims travelling for Hajj and Umrah. Indonesia’s Hajj quota is set at 203,000 pilgrims for 2026, highlighting the potential demand for flights between the two countries.

Passengers travelling to Riyadh will also have access to connecting flights to Jeddah, the main gateway for visitors travelling to Makkah and Madinah. The route is expected to serve government officials, corporate travellers and tourists, while offering Indonesian passengers another connection to Saudi Arabia’s cultural attractions and business centres.

Boeing 787-9 to Offer Four Cabin Classes

Riyadh Air will operate the Jakarta route using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline’s cabin configuration will include four travel classes: Business Elite, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

On board, passengers can expect ergonomic seating, additional privacy and storage space, alongside an in-flight entertainment system powered by Panasonic Avionics’ Astrova technology.

The airline has also highlighted its digitally focused passenger experience, including mobile connectivity and support for wireless audio devices. Other features include onboard dining, amenities from Saudi Arabian brand Kayanee, Disney-themed items for children and a multi-sensory wellness programme.

The new Jakarta service will also provide onward connections through Riyadh to several European destinations, including London, Manchester, Madrid and Milan.

The launch forms part of Riyadh Air’s wider strategy to position the Saudi capital as an international aviation hub. Through its expanding network, the airline aims to improve connections between Saudi Arabia and key markets while supporting the country’s Vision 2030 economic and tourism objectives.
