Two of the three Australian citizens suspected of shooting their fellow nationals in Bali have been arrested, with one captured overseas and brought to Jakarta.

The third was apprehended by a joint operation involving several Indonesian law enforcement bodies and Interpol Southeast Asia.

The ‘Villa shooting in Bali’ occurred on Saturday, 14 June 2025, at around 00:15 WITA, at Casa Santisya 1 Villa in Munggu Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency. Two Australian nationals, identified by their initials ZR (33) and SG (35), were shot. ZR died at the scene, while SG sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment in Kuta.

As reported by ANTARA, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Chief of the Indonesian National Police, confirmed the arrests during a visit to the Bali Police Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Jembrana Regency, Bali, on Tuesday (17 June).

“So regarding the shooting of the Australian citizen, I have received a report from the Regional Police Chief. Currently, one has been secured, one is already in Jakarta, another is on his way from abroad and will enter Jakarta,” said General Sigit.

“This arrest was the result of cooperation between the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police, Immigration, and the Australian police.”

The arrests mark a significant development in the investigation into what has now been classified as a premeditated murder case.

Suspects Face Death Penalty Under Indonesian Law

Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya confirmed that three Australian nationals have been named as suspects and are believed to be the perpetrators of the attack.

“We are sure that the three are the perpetrators, they are the executors. The three have become suspects, Australian nationals according to their passports,” he stated at a press conference held at Badung Police Headquarters on Wednesday (18 June).

The suspects have been identified as Tupou Pasa Midolmore (37), Coskunmevlut (23), and Darcy Francesco Jenson (37). All three were taken into custody on Tuesday night (17 June) and transferred to the Badung Police for further questioning.

“They are the executors and those who prepared the action,” said Inspector General Daniel.

Although the suspects have been named and detained, the police have not yet disclosed their motive or any connection they may have had with the victims. An intensive investigation is ongoing.

The suspects have been charged under several articles of the Indonesian Criminal Code:

  • Article 340 on premeditated murder,
  • Article 338 on murder,
  • Article 351(3) on assault resulting in death,
  • And also under the Emergency Law on illegal possession of firearms.

“The penalty for Article 340 is, of course, the death penalty,” stated the Bali Police Chief.

The arrest of the third suspect, who had initially fled abroad, was carried out by a joint team involving the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Bareskrim (Criminal Investigation Agency), Immigration, and Interpol Southeast Asia.

The Bali Police have stated they will publicly disclose more information in the coming days once the investigation ‘Villa Shooting in Bali’ has progressed further.
