Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has confirmed the deportation of Australian fugitive Angelo Pandeli, a suspected member of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang, following his arrest in Bali earlier this month.
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said Pandeli was deported shortly after being detained due to his status on an Interpol Blue Notice.
“Two weeks ago, if I’m not mistaken,” Hendarsam said at the Directorate General of Immigration office on Monday, 22 June 2026, as quoted by Kompas.com.
According to Hendarsam, the operation was carried out through cooperation between Indonesian authorities and international law enforcement agencies.
“Yes, he was immediately sent home because of our cooperation with foreign police, Interpol, and Bareskrim,” he said.
Arrested While Preparing to Leave Bali
Pandeli was arrested on Saturday, 6 June 2026, while preparing to depart Bali aboard a private jet bound for Mozambique.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), said the Australian national was intercepted after being flagged through an Interpol Blue Notice, which returned a 100% match.
According to Eko, Pandeli was travelling on CAPA Jet private flight N917CJ from Denpasar’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to Maputo, Mozambique, via the airport’s VIP South Terminal.
The flight manifest listed four passengers: Antonio Ricardo Resendes Silva Da Costa from Portugal, George Anderson Mota Correia from Brazil, Giorgio Sciarretta from Italy, and Fernando Martins Junior from Brazil.
During immigration checks, officers found no issues with the documents of the other three passengers. However, discrepancies were identified in the documents presented by the passenger travelling under the name George Anderson Mota Correia.
“Based on the results of the immigration inspection, it was discovered that George Anderson Mota Correia was allegedly using travel documents that did not belong to him. Further investigation revealed his true identity as Angelo Pandeli, an Australian citizen holding a Venezuelan passport (allegedly fake),” Eko told Detiknews.
Identity Irregularities Triggered Investigation
Eko explained that immigration officers became suspicious after checking the passenger’s records in the immigration system.
Authorities found no entry records or valid residence permit information that could explain his presence in Indonesia. The findings were subsequently reported to senior officers, who ordered further examination.
“Based on coordination between the South Terminal Supervisor and the Head of Inspection Section II, it was decided to delay George Anderson Mota Correia’s departure and conduct further investigation. The other three passengers could continue their departure inspection process in accordance with applicable regulations,” Eko explained.
Investigators later confirmed the passenger’s identity as Angelo Pandeli.
According to Indonesian authorities, Pandeli is considered a significant figure in transnational organised crime networks and is believed to be a key member of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang in Australia.
Law enforcement agencies allege that he has played a major role in past and ongoing attempts to import controlled narcotics into Australia. Following his arrest and verification process, Indonesian authorities coordinated with international partners to deport Pandeli from Indonesia.
