Second Home Visa is Now Valid in RI, Expats are Welcome

Indonesia’s Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Yasonna H Laoly has officially introduced the Republic of Indonesia’s second home visa policy. The new visa targets foreign visitors like global investors, expatriates, Foreign nationals, and billionaires.

A second Home visa is granted for foreigners to stay and enter Indonesia for 5 or 10 years. While tourist visa (B211A) can be obtained from every Indonesian Embassy or Consulate that lasts for 60 days and 2 times extensions (maximum stay at least six months)

“The second home residence permit is motivated by the phenomenon of migration of foreigners to Indonesia with various purposes and activities. One of which is to live in Indonesia because of its natural charm and friendly weather compared to their home country. In addition, because geographically and the potential natural resources and economic resources that Indonesia has, foreigners, can develop their business and invest here,” Said Yasonna

Yasonna said, in its application, the second home visa certainly puts forward the selective principle and the principle of benefit for the good of Indonesia.

Foreigners or sponsors applying for a second resident visa can access the website-based application form at molina.imigration.go.id directly, easily, and quickly. This one platform application also works as a submission.

Holders of second home visas will also be given a special queue line at Immigration Checkpoints at Batam Seaport, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Ngurah Rai Bali, Kualanamu Medan, and Juanda Surabaya.

“For each foreigner applying for the visa, there is a fee of IDR 3,000,000/ person. Therefore, foreigners have met the proof of fund requirement of IDR 2 Billion or property of ownership in Indonesia” said Deputy Directorate General of Immigration Department, Widodo Ekatjahjana.

Who Can Apply For Second Home Visa?

Second-Home Visa is suitable for foreigners who come to Indonesia as:

  • Investors
  • Travelers
  • Elderly/retirement tourists
  • Ex- Indonesian Citizens
  • Second-home visa holders can also apply for the same visa with their children, husband/wife, or parents as followers.

Second Home Visa As One Single Submission

Additional information on Second Home Stay Permits has the concept of one single submission. Which is to apply once for a Visa, Limited Stay Permit, and Re-Entry Permit so that when the foreigner enters Indonesian territory through the Immigration Checkpoint and has been given an entry sign, from then on the Permit Limited Stay (ITAS) at their second home will be published and sent electronically to foreigners’ e-mails

Requirements to Apply For a Visa Second Home

You can apply for a second home residence (valid for 5 or 10 years) through the Online Visa Approval application.

  • Required Documents Copy of passport that is valid for a minimum of 36 (thirty-six) months
  • Valid Travel document
  • A specific document like Proof of Funds in foreigners’ or sponsors’ bank account (must be placed in Indonesian government-owned banks) of at least Rp2,000,000,000 (two billion rupiahs) or equivalent
  • Recent color photograph (4 cm x 6 cm) with a white background
  • Curriculum vitae

Visa Application For a Sponsor

  • Copy of passport that is valid for a minimum of 36 (thirty-six) months
  • Recent color photograph (4 cm x 6 cm) with a white background
  • A valid Second-Home Visa or Second Home Temporary Stay Permit of their husband, wife, children, or parents.
  • Evidence of having a family relationship with a holder of a Second-Home Visa or Second-Home Stay Permit by showing:
    • Marriage certificate for husband/wife who holds a Second-Home Visa or Stays Permit, or Birth certificate or family card stating that the foreigner is the parent or child of the holder of a Second-Home Visa or Stay Permit, translated into Indonesian by a sworn translator, except if the document is already in English.
    • Proof of ownership of funds in a state-owned bank account or property certificate must be shown to the officer at the immigration office no later than 90 (ninety) days from the date of issuance of the second residence permit.

How Long Does the Visa Process Take?

The Visa Processing time is 4 working days after the applicant has completed the payment of the immigration fee. Sponsors or applicants can check their visas in the Online Visa Approval application account and email.
