Danish pop-rock band Michael Learns To Rock (MLTR) recently took a nostalgic trip back to Padang Padang Beach in Bali, Indonesia, a place that holds a special connection to the band’s history. In a heartfelt video shared on their official account (@michaellearnstorock), the band can be seen performing an acoustic version of their famous song “Someday.”

The serene location where the video was filmed in 1995 brought back memories of the creation of their hit music video.

The moment was captured at a pavilion by the beach, with the band members dressed in simple white clothing. As the sounds of their beloved song echoed through the Bali air, they couldn’t help but reflect on the special memories tied to the location.

“We returned to Padang Padang Beach in Bali,” the band shared in their TikTok post, which was later quoted by Kompas.com on February 8, 2025. “In the place where ‘Someday’ was filmed in 1995 to the place where the magic began,” they added.

For MLTR fans, the connection to the song “Someday” is especially significant, as it marked the beginning of a new chapter for the band. “Someday” was the lead single from their third album Played on Pepper, released in 1995, and remains one of their most popular and best-selling tracks to date.

Although Michael Learns To Rock is originally from Denmark, the band has found a huge and dedicated fanbase in Asia. Their music, including the iconic “Someday,” has become deeply nostalgic for fans across the continent. MLTR has repeatedly expressed their pride in having such loyal fans in this region, and they continue to celebrate this connection through their music and tours.

A Thriving Concert Scene in Bali

MLTR’s popularity in Asia was clearly evident during their recent concert in Bali. On November 1, 2024, the band performed at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), part of the Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) area, as part of their Heritage 90’s Concert tour. The concert, titled Take Us to Your Heart Tour Celebrating the Hits, was met with an overwhelmingly enthusiastic crowd.

The band’s Bali performance was part of a four-stop concert tour in Indonesia. Following the Bali concert, MLTR also performed in Jakarta on November 2, Surabaya on November 3, and Medan on November 13, 2024. The concerts in these cities were a testament to MLTR’s continued influence and the enduring love for their music.

To ensure the safety and smooth running of the events, the Bali concert was held under tight security, as confirmed by the Bali Police Public Relations via their official Facebook page. This level of security ensured that fans could fully enjoy the iconic concert without any concerns.

The beach is surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, creating a tranquil and cozy atmosphere perfect for those looking to relax or enjoy an adventurous day out.

For fans of the movie Eat, Pray, Love, Padang Padang Beach will also be a familiar sight, as it was one of the filming locations for the film.

Additionally, it holds a special place in the hearts of MLTR fans as the backdrop for the band’s “Someday” music video.

Located along Jalan Labuan Sait, in Pecatu Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Padang Padang Beach should definitely be added to any visitor’s Bali bucket list. The beach features a stunning hilly landscape with shady trees, vibrant coral reefs, and crystal-clear water.

While the beach is a must-see, getting there requires a bit of adventure. Visitors must descend a steep staircase to reach the sand, but the effort is more than worth it.

The beautiful views and clear waters awaiting at the bottom offer a magical and relaxing experience, making it all the more rewarding to reach the secluded beach. The narrow passage between the towering coral cliffs adds a sense of mystery and adventure, making the journey to Padang Padang Beach a memorable one.
