Acting Governor Sets a 75% WFH Policy to Jakarta’s ASN Starting Today

During the 2023 ASEAN Summit, Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono stated that the portion of the work-from-home (WFH) policy for the Jakarta state civil apparatus (ASN) would be increased to 75 per cent.

The WFH policy and distance learning (PJJ) will be enforced in South Jakarta areas, Gambir, and Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), particularly during the 43rd ASEAN Summit, which will take place on the 4th to 7th of September.

“For ASN, we will increase it by up to 75%,” Heru said during tree planting activities on the Becakayu Toll Road in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Saturday, 19th of August, according to Antara.

Heru confirmed that the Jakarta ASN’s WFH scheme would last three months, from today, 21st of August to the 21st of October. The concept is split 50/50 between WFH and in-office work. This policy does not apply to ASN who work in public services, such as hospital and school employees.

According to Heru, the re-implementation of the WFH policy in Jakarta is intended to reduce not only air pollution but also traffic congestion during the 2023 ASEAN Summit. He went on to say that this policy also applies to ASN in ministries and institutions with offices in the capital.

This policy is not mandatory for private companies to follow. Heru Budi, on the other hand, urged businesses to regulate their own sectors in order to implement the WFH policy.

Previously, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) announced that work from home (WFH) would be reinstated due to Jakarta’s extreme pollution. Employees are only required to come to work one day per week.

According to Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, employees who can do WFH are those who do not have direct contact with the community. Those who work in coordination can also be done remotely.

“As a result, activities that do not require public relations, coordination, and so on can be carried out with WFH,” Sandiaga emphasised.
