10th October 2022 – Three places in Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali Province, experienced flooding on Saturday as a result of the intense rains that pounded Bali (8/10/2022). The amount of Tukad Mati (Mati River) increased, which resulted in flooding. Although flooding is reportedly typical in the Legian region, this particular flood was reportedly large enough to cause backups in traffic.

The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (locally known as Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika or BMKG) stated that Bali was hit with extreme weather from 00.50 to 05.10 last Saturday.

As a result, a number of areas in Badung Regency and Denpasar City were flooded. The flood reached knee-deep to the chest of an adult. The flood centres in Denpasar City are located at Pura Demak Pemecutan Kelod, Padang Asri Housing Padangsambian, Tegal Kerta Monang-Maning Village, Bumi Ayu Sanur, and Kertapura Pemecutan. Meanwhile, flood centres in Badung Regency were monitored at Tukad Mati Legian, Jalan Pandawa to Jalan Dewi Sri.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Badung Regional Disaster Management Agency (locally known as BPBD), I Ketut Murdika said that flooding struck Jalan Blong, Jalan Dewi Saraswati, and Jalan Pandawa in the Kuta region. His team has evacuated 154 vacationers from their lodging in the three districts.

According to the reports, 35 of the 154 tourists are foreigners, with the rest being Indonesian. As for the specifics, three villas on Jalan Blong, Gang Baik-Baik, Seminyak, and Kuta were evacuated together with 33 tourists, including 10 Indonesians and 23 foreigners. Including the 120 guests from Ramada Encore on Jalan Dewi Saraswati 3 were evacuated.

33 tourists who had to be evacuated from Seminyak villas have also gotten medical attention at their lodgings. 120 visitors who were evacuated from Jalan Dewi Saraswati and Jalan Pandawa opted to continue their trip to Bali in other locations.

Furthermore, BMKG has issued a warning that extreme weather is going to hit most parts of Indonesia until next week, people are advised to take some mitigation measures.
