Covid-19 Second Booster Vaccine Starts Today

July 29, 2022 – Due to the prolonged pandemic period and the emergence of new variants of Covid-19, the government has begun to promote calls for a second vaccine booster or a fourth vaccine.

The second booster was given as a result of a rise in the frequency of Covid-19 infections. 3,157 cases from Jakarta were included in the overall number of new infections. In addition, there were 2 fatalities and 3,100 new recoveries in the capital.

At 222 instances per day on Thursday, Bali was the fifth province with the highest number of daily cases. At least 100 COVID-19 patients recovered, while 4 in the province passed away from the infection.

As of Thursday, there were 6,191,664 confirmed cases, including the recent outbreaks.

The Ministry of Health has officially issued new rules for the second booster COVID-19 vaccine or the fourth dose of the vaccine. Starting today, Friday (29/7/2022) all health workers can receive the second booster or fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This new rule is contained in a circular letter Number HK.02.02/C/3615/2022 concerning the 2nd Booster Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination for Health Human Resources.

The fourth or second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination will be given at intervals of six months from the first booster dose vaccination. The vaccination can be done at health service facilities or COVID-19 vaccination service posts.

What types of vaccines are given?

The type of vaccine used for this second booster vaccine is the COVID-19 vaccine which has obtained an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and is subject to vaccine availability.

Who gets the priority to get vaccinated?

This second booster vaccination will be given to those who work in healthcare first. Following with those who are thought to be in danger first, such as the elderly, people who have several medical conditions, or have immune system issues, all have priorities based on things like competence, expense, and so on.
