Turkish Citizen Shot in Bali with 5 Bullets, Undergoing Intensive Medical Care

Turan Mahmet, a 30-year-old Turkish citizen, became the target of an unknown assailant who shot him on Tuesday, 23rd January 2024, at 1 am local time. The incident transpired at his residence, the Villa Palm House, situated in Tumbak Bayuh village, Mengwi, Badung.

Presently, the Turkish citizen is under intensive care at Bhayangkara Hospital in Denpasar. Swiftly responding to the incident, both Bali and Badung police initiated an investigation, scrutinizing eyewitness accounts and examining CCTV footage in the vicinity of the incident.

As per the security personnel at the victim’s residence, three unidentified individuals forcibly entered the villa and promptly confronted the security guard on duty. Despite the guard’s attempts to prevent their entry, he was coerced into allowing them access when faced with threats.

Shortly after that, a gunshot was heard, and the third assailant quickly fled the scene. The police promptly initiated an investigation into the case and discovered three intact 7.62 calibre projectiles along with two spent bullet casings.

“The firearms have not been recovered. Three intact projectiles and two casings were found,” stated the Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of the Bali Police, Commissioner Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, on Tuesday (21/1/2024).

As per information provided by the Badung Police Chief, AKBP Teguh Priyo Wasono, the Turkish victim sustained five gunshot wounds, these injuries included penetration of the left arm and forearm, two wounds to the right abdomen, one beneath the left armpit with penetration into the left arm.

“While the police have visited the crime scene, gathered evidence, obtained statements from witnesses and possible perpetrators, the investigation is ongoing, and we have also coordinated with immigration authorities,” stated the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Commissioner Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, in his official statement.
