Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai Airports Among the World’s Top 100 Best Airports

Share:

Two of Indonesia’s key international airports, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang (Soetta Airport) and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, have earned spots on the list of the 100 Best Airports in the World.

The rankings were announced as part of the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023-2024, which evaluates the passenger experience from check-in to departure based on global traveller votes.

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, Soekarno-Hatta Airport climbed to 28th place in the world in 2024, a significant improvement from its 43rd position in 2023. Impressively, Soetta Airport surpassed airports in several developed nations, including Houston Hobby Airport in the United States, Paris Orly Airport in France, and Düsseldorf Airport in Germany.

Arie Ahsanurrohim, Corporate Secretary Group Head at Angkasa Pura Indonesia, highlighted that the rankings are largely based on customer feedback. The assessment, conducted by Skytrax, considers at least 44 service points at each airport, offering a comprehensive evaluation of passenger experiences.

“We are grateful for the assessment given by customers and airplane passengers, so that it can help place our two airports in the list of the world’s 100 best airports, out of a total of around 570 airports assessed,Arie stated.

Focus on Service and Innovation

To maintain and improve their rankings, both airports have implemented service enhancements, introduced innovative solutions, and prioritised digitisation. Arie emphasised the importance of listening to customers, addressing service gaps, and strengthening collaboration within the aviation ecosystem.

“The government also continues to provide support so that there is always an improvement in performance at all airports,he added.

Since 2024, InJourney Airports has been spearheading transformation efforts at Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai Airports, aiming to elevate their status as national symbols of pride and contributors to economic development. These efforts are based on three pillars:

  1. Infrastructure Transformation (Premises): Focused on enhancing the customer experience.
  2. Ecosystem-Based Operations (Process): Streamlining airport operations for efficiency.
  3. World-Class Service (People): Ensuring high-quality customer service, supported by advanced technology.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s Terminal 3 now offers a more comfortable atmosphere, featuring tropical greenery and cool air temperatures. Meanwhile, Ngurah Rai Airport has introduced an aesthetically designed pedestrian bridge, inaugurated by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development.

Plans for the Future

Arie revealed that the transformation programme prioritises Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai Airports, with plans to expand similar upgrades to other airports across Indonesia. These transformations will be tailored to the unique profiles, capacities, and infrastructure of each facility.

The recognition of Indonesia’s top airports on the global stage reflects a commitment to excellence and innovation, ensuring passengers receive world-class service and experiences.
