Slovenian Tourist in Bali Pickpocketed While Eating at a Stall, Bag Containing Valuables Missing

A Slovenian tourist became a victim of theft while eating at a food stall in the South Denpasar area on Saturday afternoon, 3rd May 2025. The incident occurred at Warung Muslim Bondowoso, Mertasari II Street, Sidakarya Village, South Denpasar.

South Denpasar Police Chief, AKP Agus Adi Pariyoga, S.I.K., M.H., confirmed the incident. He explained that the victim, named Kamin Natalija (35), a Slovenian citizen, lost his sling bag containing a number of valuables.

At the time, Kamin, who was dining with his partner, lost his sling bag. It contained a Samsung mobile phone, IDR 900,000 in cash, and a credit card.

Fortunately, not long after reporting the matter to South Denpasar Police (Densel), Kamin’s bag was found. However, cash amounting to IDR 600,000 was missing. Meanwhile, the perpetrators of the theft are still under investigation.

“The sling bag containing the victim’s belongings has been found. Only IDR 600,000 was lost,said South Denpasar Police Chief AKP Agus Adi Pariyoga when confirmed by detikBali.

Based on witness statements at the scene, the perpetrator is suspected to be a man who had been pacing around the shop before fleeing on a motorcycle after taking the victim’s bag.

“The perpetrator took advantage of the victim’s negligence to take the bag,he explained.

Upon receiving the report, South Denpasar Police Resmob personnel swiftly traced the victim’s mobile phone, which was connected to his laptop. As a result, a sling bag containing the victim’s important items was found in the Taman Pancing Timur Street area, Pemogan, South Denpasar.

At present, the police are still investigating the whereabouts of the perpetrators and are urging the public, especially tourists, to always remain vigilant regarding personal belongings in public places.

Theft Cases in Denpasar During January 2025

In addition, Bali’s police arrested 51 thieves in Denpasar City, Bali, during January 2025. All were active during that month, with various motives ranging from daily needs and lifestyle sprees to online gambling.

Meanwhile, Denpasar Police Chief Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Simatupang stated that the thieves were arrested following 47 public complaint reports. These consisted of 19 cases of theft with aggravation, six cases of motorcycle theft, one case of violent theft, and one case of ordinary theft.

In this case, the perpetrators were charged under Article 262 and Article 363 of the Criminal Code, carrying maximum prison sentences of five to seven years.
