  • Geography: Indonesia is an archipelago of over 17,000 islands. It has five main islands; Sumatra, Java, Borneo (known as Kalimantan on the Indonesian side), Sulawesi, and New Guinea. The land itself is quite mountainous and covered by dense tropical forests. It also has many active volcanoes since it is located along the Ring of Fire.

It places in the framework of a presidential representative democratic republic whereby the President of Indonesia is both head of state and head of government and of a multi-party system. The governmental system has been described as “presidential with parliamentary characteristics”.
