13th October 2022 – The Implement Agency for the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF) is holding the 2022 Labuan Bajo Maritime Festival (LBMF) in Region III Waterfront Marina Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) from 21st to 23rd October 2022.

This marine-themed event consists of various activities such as planting coral and checking coral reefs in the Rinca area, garbage clean-up in coastal areas, as well as a marine and maritime product bazaar. There will also be music shows and talk shows to be enjoyed with a cup of Flores coffee sold at the festival.

The President Director of BPOLBF, Shana Fatina, said that the Labuan Bajo Maritime Festival is held by the Labuan Bajo community for the community and tourists. She explained further that the festival is a continuation of the Floratama Ideathon Event competition in June 2022. There are a total of three winners from the competition. One of those ideas is the Labuan Bajo Maritime Festival, which can be held in mid-October.

The Floratama Ideathon Event is an idea competition with the theme “It’s Time for Labuan Bajo.” The goal is to restore the event-based tourism sector by actualizing the potential of the local event industry ecosystem.

The competition aims to create events and festivals in Labuan Bajo, to the diversification of tourist attractions and motives.

According to Fatina, the need for business meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibition (MICE) services to handle so many future events held in Labuan Bajo will increase. This is aligned with the government’s strategy to encourage the growth of the MICE industry in Labuan Bajo for the next 25 years, thus opening up new job opportunities and giving opportunities for local entrepreneurs in the MICE industry.

Fatina hopes that more excellent local talents will be interested in seizing this opportunity in the MICE industry. So that anyone who wants to hold an event in Labuan Bajo will have no trouble finding professional local event organizers.
