This innovation departs from the unrest of seeing pet perfume products that are not actually made specifically for them. Such products are unsafe and make pets feel uncomfortable.

Therefore, through Not For Humans they created a perfume made specifically for dogs and cats. This perfume, with its unique selling points, comes in two variants, namely “Am Smell Good” and “Am Smooth”. “Am Smell Good” can scent and contain anti-bacteria for cats and dogs, while ‘Am Smooth’ can soften the dog’s coat.

Not For Humans will also donate a few per cent of its sales profits to social activities, such as helping stray cats and dogs.

International brands also make perfumes for pets

Perfume for pets doesn’t seem to be a new thing. In August 2024, Dolce & Gabbana launched a special perfume for dogs.

Named Fefe, the perfume is claimed to be a ‘masterpiece of the sense of smell’ and sells for 99 Euros or around Rp 1.7 million. The fragrance combines notes of ylang-ylang, musk and a soft touch of sandalwood.

The perfume, named after the dog of one of the brand’s founders, Domenico Dolce, is claimed to have passed safety tests by animal health experts.

Fefe by Dolce & Gabbana is packaged in a bright green box-shaped bottle with a striking red cap. The earring foot-shaped plate is adorned with 24-karat gold.

How luxurious!

However, it’s important to note that not all perfumes are safe for pets. Some perfume fragrances may be toxic for pets, causing a range of health issues.

Inhaling fragrances such as perfumes, incense and air fresheners can cause eye and nose irritation and increase respiratory problems in pets.

“If perfume is ingested, it can cause incoordination, signs of neurological disorders, and decreased breathing due to the alcohol content,” she said.

Similarly, ingested incense can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, and neurological disorders. Doctor Burch also said that these ingredients can cause symptoms of poisoning, such as burns in the mouth and stomach pain.
