Foreigner Runs Naked in Monas, Allegedly Suffering Mental Health Crisis

Share:

A foreign national caused a stir in the National Monument or Monas area, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 29 April 2025.

The man, desperate and barefoot, ran naked through the public area, prompting immediate intervention by officers from the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).

Viktor, a Russian national, shocked visitors as he ran unclothed around Monas, causing widespread commotion.

The actions of this Russian tourist went viral on TikTok, posted by the @riamar82 account and re-uploaded by @jabodetabek24info.

In the post, the admin stated that Viktor ran naked and barefoot from the east gate to the parking area inside Monas.

The Chronology of the Event

As reported by TribunNews, the foreigner, later identified as Viktor (36) from Russia, began running from the east gate of Monas into the park grounds. His reckless behaviour surprised the on-duty officers, who promptly apprehended him.

Initially, Viktor was unwilling to speak. However, after being calmed, he admitted to having arrived in Jakarta alone after travelling to the Mount Bromo area in East Java by train. In a surprising revelation, he confessed to having tampered with his identity card and passport shortly after arriving in Indonesia.

It is suspected that Viktor may be suffering from a psychological disorder due to severe mental distress. He appeared absent-minded and was unable to explain his actions coherently.

After being provided with food and a bath, Viktor was taken to the Central Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters for further examination. The police plan to hand over the case to the Central Jakarta Immigration Office for further handling.
