An alleged indecent act involving a foreign national has drawn widespread attention on social media after a video circulated online showing a confrontation at Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park in Blok M, South Jakarta.

In the video, a female visitor claims a foreign man exposed his genitals in the public space. The woman said she felt threatened and feared for her safety before reporting the incident to park security.

The video was uploaded by the Instagram account @jakartaselatan24jam. It shows several people approaching the foreign national, accompanied by Blok M security officers, after they claimed to have witnessed the alleged act.

As security officers questioned him, the foreign national attempted to demonstrate what he claimed to have done earlier. He also verbally responded to the woman.

“‘She is crazy, stupid,’” the foreign national said in the video.

The footage shows the man attempting to convince security officers that his actions were not as described by the woman. The exchange escalated into an argument between the two parties.

The video ended without showing any resolution. The nationality of the foreign national has not been confirmed. Comments under the video suggested that other individuals may have experienced similar behaviour, though these claims have not been officially verified.

Governor Demands Firm Action

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the incident and called for firm enforcement of the law if the perpetrator is apprehended.

“If he does this and is caught, he will be punished to the fullest extent,” Pramono said on Sunday, 11 January 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The governor’s statement came amid public concern over safety in public spaces and the spread of the video online.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the foreign national has been detained. Officials have urged the public to report similar incidents directly to law enforcement.

Police Investigation Faces Evidence Challenges

Police have launched an investigation into the alleged exhibitionism incident, which reportedly occurred on Saturday, 10 January, at around 12.30 pm local time.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kebayoran Baru Police, Commissioner Suparmin, said officers regularly patrol the area.

“Our officers like to patrol during peak hours and walk around,” Suparmin said to Antara on Monday.

He said investigators had spoken with witnesses, including the woman who reported the incident. According to witness testimony, the suspect offered an explanation for his actions when questioned.

“According to the witness, the witness asked the perpetrator why he committed the act. He explained that the weather in Indonesia is very hot and makes his body itch from the neck down,” Suparmin said.

Despite the statements, police acknowledged difficulties in progressing the case. Suparmin said the investigation was facing challenges due to limited evidence.

Authorities have not provided further details on potential charges or legal proceedings. The police said the investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to gather information related to the incident.
