After the fall of a Chinese tourist in Ijen Crater, Indonesia, this time, there is another sad news that befalls foreign tourists. A Dutch tourist died after falling into a ravine while climbing Mount Agung in Bali.

A Dutch national with the initials FB died after falling into a 15-meter-deep ravine while climbing Mount Agung, Karangasem, Bali. The 29-year-old woman breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the Selat Health Center.

Head of Public Relations of Karangasem Police Iptu I Gede Sukadana revealed that FB was climbing with her friend from Denmark with the initials PSA (31) on Thursday (23/5/2024). The two foreigners climbed through the Pasar Agung Temple route, Sebudi, Selat District, Karangasem.

“They both climbed Mount Agung around 03.00 Wita in the morning independently without using the services of a local guide,” Sukadana told DetikBali.

According to a statement from police public relations, the two foreign tourists climbed the mountain at around 3 a.m.

“The victim came with his male friend on a motorcycle from Ubud. Both climbed through the Pasar Agung Temple route.”

Furthermore, two foreign tourists, a man and a woman, climbed.

Arriving at an altitude of 1,600 MDPL, the female tourist from the Netherlands slipped and fell into a 15-meter-deep ravine.

“As soon as she fell, his male friend immediately went down to look for help,” said Sukadana.

At that time, the tourist’s companion met with the Social Forestry Business Group chaired by I Wayan Mertayasa. Upon receiving the report, the group brought 20 people to evacuate the female tourist.

Sukadana revealed that the injuries suffered by the Dutch tourist were quite severe. “Broken lower jaw bone, broken left arm, abdominal abrasions, torn chin, and broken front teeth,” Sukadana concluded.

He also advised other tourists who plan to climb Mount Agung to use a guide so that they know the safe climbing routes.
