A Different Kind of Morning: Foreigners React to Indonesia’s Gymnastics Routine

Share:

Morning exercise or morning gymnastic, a deeply ingrained habit in Indonesian society, is routinely practiced from schools to various companies. Even some government agencies incorporate this activity into their work, underscoring its cultural significance.

Well, apparently, this habit also did not escape the attention of foreigners or expats living in Indonesia. As shown by the TikTok account @chadandmiaofficial.

She showed that she found a quite strange activity in Bali, namely gymnastic activities in front of convenience stores. Although not familiar but, she liked the activity.

The video went viral and has hundreds of comments saying it is very common in Indonesia.

‘Fyi, not only Bali, it’s all over Indonesia,’ wrote account doitmyway89, highlighting the widespread nature of this cultural practice.

“This is so indo core, oh my god we love the random mom’s who just show up in the middle of public spaces in the morning to exercise together,” wrote another account.

Morning exercise or morning gymnastic is a physical activity done in the morning, usually between 6 am and 9 am. Morning exercises have many benefits for physical and mental health, so it is a good habit to do regularly.

In the past, morning exercises were done at school, usually once a week.

Besides the physical benefits, morning exercises can also help improve students’ concentration and focus. By doing physical activity before the start of learning hours, students will feel fresher and more focused.

In addition to the physical benefits, morning exercises can also help improve students’ concentration and focus at school. By engaging in physical activity before the start of learning hours, students will feel more refreshed and energetic. This can help improve their concentration and focus while learning.

When doing morning exercises, the brain releases endorphins that improve mood, boost immunity, reduce stress, and improve memory and concentration. By doing morning exercises regularly, you will start your day in a good mood and be energized for the rest of the day.

As an expat, have you encountered this gymnastic activity when you lived in Indonesia? What do you think of this habit?
