Bali has been named Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination 2026 at the World Travel Awards, securing the title for the seventh time in eight years and reinforcing its position as a popular choice for couples planning destination weddings.

The Indonesian island was recognised ahead of fellow nominees Cebu in the Philippines, Koh Samui in Thailand and Langkawi in Malaysia. The award was presented during the World Travel Awards’ Asia, Oceania and Indian Ocean gala ceremony in the Maldives in September 2026.

According to the official World Travel Awards website, Bali first won the category in 2019 and retained the title consecutively until 2023. Cebu claimed the award in 2024, before Bali regained it in 2025 and maintained its position in 2026.

The latest recognition adds to Bali’s established reputation in the international wedding tourism industry, where its natural scenery, cultural heritage and range of venues have attracted couples from around the world.

Bali’s Wedding Destination Appeal

Bali’s appeal as a wedding destination is supported by its variety of settings, from beachfront resorts and coastal cliffs to tropical gardens and inland retreats.

Couples can choose to hold ceremonies overlooking the Indian Ocean, organise celebrations at luxury resorts or opt for quieter locations surrounded by greenery in Ubud.

The island’s combination of landscapes and cultural experiences has helped it maintain its position among Asia’s leading destinations for weddings.

The World Travel Awards recognises achievements across the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Its wedding destination category highlights locations that stand out for hosting wedding celebrations, including their natural surroundings, cultural character and venue options.

Bali’s latest win also follows its previous recognition as Asia’s Most Romantic Destination. The island held that title for seven consecutive years, further strengthening its profile among couples seeking destinations for celebrations and romantic holidays.
