TransNusa will launch a new direct route connecting Melbourne, Australia, with Bali on 19 October 2026, expanding the Indonesian airline’s international network and strengthening its presence in the Australian market.
Ticket sales for the new route opened on 15 September 2026. The service will connect Melbourne Airport with I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, making Melbourne the airline’s second Australian destination after Perth.
The new route will initially operate four times a week, with flights from Melbourne scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. TransNusa will operate the service using an Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 passengers.
According to the published flight schedule, the service will include morning departures from Melbourne and evening departures from Bali. Flight 8B-18 is scheduled to depart Bali at 20:45 and arrive in Melbourne at 05:40 the following day. Flight 8B-19 will depart Melbourne at 06:25 and arrive in Bali at 09:40.
TransNusa Melbourne-Bali Fares Start at AUD 299
TransNusa is offering introductory fares for the new Melbourne-Bali route, with Basic fares starting from AUD 299, equivalent to around IDR 3.4–3.8 million depending on the exchange rate used.
The airline is also introducing its new Premium Plus service on the route, with introductory fares starting from AUD 699, or approximately IDR 8.8–9.1 million.
Both fare information releases state that the ticket includes a 20-kilogram checked baggage allowance. Food, beverages and other additional services are available separately.
Premium Plus is a new service class designed for passengers seeking additional comfort and services at a price positioned below business class. TransNusa said the service includes priority amenities and an increased baggage allowance. The airline has limited Premium Plus to 20 seats per flight on the Melbourne-Bali route.
The introduction of Premium Plus forms part of TransNusa’s broader move towards becoming what it describes as a Premium Service Carrier.
TransNusa Expands Beyond Bali Connections
The Melbourne-Bali route is also intended to support onward travel through TransNusa’s “Beyond Bali” network. Passengers travelling from Australia can connect through Bali to destinations within Indonesia, including Wakatobi, Manado, Bima and Lombok.
The network also provides connections to regional destinations such as Singapore, Phuket and Guangzhou, as well as other major cities in China.
TransNusa Group CEO Datuk Bernard Francis said the Melbourne-Bali route represents part of the airline’s international expansion strategy and is intended to improve connectivity between Australia and Asia through Bali.
“This new route marks a significant milestone in TransNusa’s international growth while reinforcing Bali’s position as a key gateway between Australia and Asia. At the same time, we are offering travellers a new choice that combines connectivity, value, and a more premium travel experience,” Bernard said in a statement on Wednesday, 16 September.
According to Bernard, Bali remains one of the world’s premier tourist destinations, and the airline sees the direct Melbourne-Bali connection as an opportunity to provide Australian travellers with another flight option.
“With the right connections from Bali, Australian travellers have the flexibility to seamlessly extend their journeys to domestic destinations such as Wakatobi, Manado, Bima, and Lombok, as well as regional destinations like Singapore, Phuket, and various major cities in China,” said Bernard.
The new service will add additional capacity to the Melbourne-Bali market, with the airline’s four-weekly operation expected to provide more than 70,000 seats annually between the two destinations.
The launch also makes TransNusa the sixth airline serving the Melbourne-Bali route, giving travellers another direct option between the Australian city and Bali.
