Share:

Global market research firm Ipsos has released its Love Life Satisfaction Index 2026, a comprehensive study examining public attitudes towards love, romance, and personal relationships.

Conducted between 24 December 2025 and 9 January 2026, the survey gathered insights from 23,268 adults under 75 across 29 countries. The overall index score is calculated on a 100-point scale based on participant responses regarding emotional fulfilment, romantic quality, and relationship stability.

While the global average index score stands at 73, the study reveals significant regional differences. Developing and emerging markets across Asia and Latin America lead the global rankings, while several traditional European nations and East Asian economies recorded lower satisfaction levels.

According to the official Ipsos press release published on Saturday, 14 February 2026, Thailand secured the top position globally with an index score of 86. Indonesia followed closely in second place with a score of 85, outperforming major Latin American and European nations.

Key Drivers of High Satisfaction in Indonesia

Indonesia’s strong performance across the Love Life Satisfaction Index 2026 is driven by high scores in two core areas: feeling emotionally cherished and overall satisfaction with romantic partnerships.

1. Feeling Loved and Valued

When asked if they felt loved by their partner or close network, 86 per cent of Indonesian respondents stated they were very or somewhat satisfied.

This figure matches Malaysia (86 per cent) and surpasses both Thailand (85 per cent) and Singapore (78 per cent), while remaining well above the global average of 77 per cent.

2. Satisfaction with Romantic Partnerships

Regarding overall satisfaction with romantic relationships, 77% of Indonesians expressed positive feelings. This exceeds the global average of 60 per cent and places Indonesia second in the region, just behind Thailand (78%), but ahead of Malaysia (70%) and Singapore (58%).

It is important to note the demographics of the study within Indonesia. The national sample comprised approximately 500 respondents aged 21 to 74, primarily representing urban, well-educated, and digitally connected individuals. As a result, these insights reflect the perspectives of Indonesia’s modern, urban population.

3. Economic Status and Financial Security

The data indicates a clear connection between household income and relationship happiness. Higher financial stability appears to reduce external stress, offering couples a stronger sense of security.

Feeling Loved: 82% of high-income individuals reported feeling satisfied, compared to 78% in middle-income and 72% in low-income brackets.

Romantic and Sexual Life: 68% of high-income respondents expressed satisfaction, compared to 62% of middle-income and 52% of low-income respondents.

Generational Comparisons: Why Millennials Lead

Across all generations, emotional satisfaction remains relatively stable, with roughly three out of four respondents across age groups feeling loved. However, satisfaction regarding romantic and physical relationships varies by age.

Millennials reported the highest levels of satisfaction globally, with 65% feeling fulfilled in their romantic lives. This compares to 55% among Baby Boomers.

Researchers suggest that Millennials are currently at a life stage where they can better balance career demands, personal independence, and relationship management.
