A video showing a foreigner rescuing a dog swept away by waves on a Bali beach has gone viral on social media, drawing praise and emotional reactions from viewers.
The video, originally uploaded by Instagram account @stasia.family and widely reshared, captures the moment the man spots the dog struggling in the water. Without hesitation, he runs across the sand and dives into the sea.
He swims towards the dog, battling the strong current. But the waves prove difficult to manage alone. As both the man and the dog drift further from shore, help arrives at the right moment.
A surfer paddles over and assists with the rescue. He carefully lifts the dog onto his surfboard while the foreigner stays close, guiding them both back towards the beach. Together, they manage to return safely.
The rescue ends without injury. Both the man and the dog reach shore safely, bringing relief to those watching.
Viral Reactions: “Thank You, Mister”
The video quickly attracted hundreds of comments from netizens, many expressing gratitude and admiration.
“Thank you, Mister ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Thank God the dog is safe, thank you for helping save him🙏”.
Others used the moment to remind people about Bali’s unpredictable sea conditions. One commenter from Bali shared a warning based on local experience.
“Any beach, if you want to swim, try to find one during high tide because the pressure of the current will push you to the shore. However, if you swim during low tide, the pressure of the upstream and downstream currents will be very strong, pulling you to the centre and pushing you to the bottom (a blender),” the commenter explained.
Their message highlights the risks that can appear suddenly, even on familiar beaches.
BMKG Warns of Moderate Waves in Bali Waters
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has also issued a warning about current sea conditions around Bali.
Authorities said wave heights are expected to reach between 1.25 and 2.5 metres, which falls into the moderate category. Residents and ocean users are advised to remain cautious.
BMKG noted that winds in northern Bali waters are generally moving from the west to the north at speeds of 5 to 20 knots. Meanwhile, winds in southern Bali waters are blowing from the southwest to the west at similar speeds.
These conditions can create stronger currents and unpredictable waves.
BMKG is urging residents, surfers, fishermen, and tourists to stay alert and prioritise safety when entering the water.
The viral rescue serves as a reminder of both the kindness of strangers and the power of the sea.
