The Indonesian Judicial Commission said that Bali is one of the areas of concern in the legal mafia practice. Bali ranks 10th in the Judicial Commission’s ranking of areas where legal mafia practices are indicated.

Head of Inter-Agency Relations and Information Services of the Judicial Commission, Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata, revealed that Bali is among the top 10 regions monitored based on the number of reports on judicial bodies and courts.

“What we report is that in Bali, reports to the judicial commission are also in the top 10. So because it is the top 10, it certainly gets attention,” he said, as reported by Kompas on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

One of the cases in the spotlight is a land dispute case. “For example, there are many land mafias, various kinds,” he said.

According to him, these problems do not necessarily indicate that the judiciary and courts in Bali are in an unhealthy condition. However, several types of cases have the potential to cause judges and court officials to abuse their power or authority.

Although Bali is ranked 10th, he said it does not mean that law enforcement in Bali is bad. However, his party will form a liaison commission to oversee the judicial system and judges in Bali. This includes working with the Bali Attorney General’s Office.
