After Indonesia AirAsia had just opened a direct flight to Brunei Darussalam, it is now opening another new route: direct flights from Bali and Jakarta to Hong Kong.

The opening of this route is a testament to Indonesia AirAsia’s unwavering dedication to expanding its connectivity to other Asian countries, ensuring that our passengers can reach their desired destinations with ease.

Based on data from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), from January – June 2024, foreign tourists from Hong Kong visited 13,673 times. This number almost reached 98.5% of the total visits throughout 2023, which amounted to 13,885.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the number of tourists from Indonesia visiting Hong Kong in 2023 increased by 3,276.87% or 252,432 tourists compared to 2022, which only reached 7,480 tourists.

So, with Indonesia AirAsia’s addition of direct flights from Jakarta and Bali to Hong Kong, the number of visits to both countries is expected to continue increasing until the end of 2024.

“Indonesia AirAsia continues to take strategic steps to connect passengers to their favourite destinations through comfortable and affordable direct flights without the need for transit. With the opening of the Bali-Hong Kong and Jakarta-Hong Kong routes, Indonesia AirAsia further strengthens its position as an airline with extensive connectivity, which not only covers countries in ASEAN and Australia but also reaches mainland China,” said Veranita Yosephine, President Director of Indonesia AirAsia.

Why was Hong Kong chosen?

Hong Kong is already a popular destination for Indonesians. It also has a variety of natural, cultural, culinary, architectural, and historical attractions with its own charm.

Some popular tourist destinations are Victoria Peak, Hong Kong Wetland Park, Victoria Harbor, Ngong Ping 360, Temple Street, and Tian Tan Buddha, as well as the famous theme park Disneyland Hong Kong, which is always the target of tourists.

Tickets can already be booked

Tickets for the flight route can be booked starting August 6, 2024. The first flight on the Bali-Hong Kong route will begin operating on October 1, 2024, with a frequency of 1 flight per day.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta-Hong Kong route will operate starting October 8, 2024. The frequency of flying is once every day.
