Bali has beautiful nature with beautiful beaches and green land with big trees.

However, a viral video shared by @therahayuproject recently caused a stir because it appeared that a large, hundreds of years-old tree in Bali was cut down.

What makes it shocking is that the felling of the tree is rumored to be to build a beach club.

“How many more trees will go down in the name of profit?” wrote the caption in the video.

The video was filled with comments criticizing the tree cutting, forcing the developer to clarify.

In an Instagram post, @taryandragon stated that they were leasing private land. Under the lease agreement, the owner is obliged to hand over the land prepared for construction.

They added that a ceremony conducted with mangku (local priest) had also been carried out before the logging. Afterward, they has commited to planting a significant number of trees as part of the site development plan.

DPD RI Senator elected 2024-2029, Niluh Djelantik also responded to the viral video of hundreds of years old trees being cut down allegedly for the construction of a beach club in Bali.

Through her personal Instagram social media account @niluhdjelantik, the politician and entrepreneur re-uploaded the video of the felling of the hundred-year-old wooden tree.

She said that Bali does not need a new beach club that kills nature. She requested that the Balinese government be firm against developments that do not consider Bali’s nature.

She also said that the universe would teach a lesson to entrepreneurs who only think about money.

“The Balinese government must be firm or the universe will teach a lesson for the greed of entrepreneurs who only think about money but do not care and love Bali,” she wrote.

Tree felling in Bali

Tree felling in Bali is a common phenomenon and often detrimental to natural conditions.

In 2023, illegal logging, aka logging, was still rampant in the forest area in the northern part of Jembrana, specifically in the Banjar Sari Kuning area, Tukadaya Village, Melaya District. The forest managed by the West Bali Forest Management Unit (KPH) is allegedly cut down by unscrupulous residents. The wood is sold, and the land that has been cut down is planted with bananas.
