In the early hours of Monday, the 11th of September, at 12:30 a.m. Jakarta time, a fire incident occurred at Halim Station of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train. Fortunately, the authorities’ prompt action prevented significant disruptions to the station’s operations.

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) GM Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunissa confirmed that the situation at Halim Station is under control and assured that there would be no operational disruptions affecting the high-speed train’s trial schedule.

Eva Chairunissa stated, “There is no operational disruption. The trial schedule will stay on track.” She went on to provide further details about the incident, assuring that the interior of the station building remains in good condition, allowing all functions to operate normally.

The incident was attributed to an electric spark on the roof of the east side of the train platform, specifically in the roofing protection layer. KCIC swiftly coordinated with the East Jakarta Fire Department, and their efforts successfully extinguished the fire, preventing significant damage.

The quick response by both KCIC and the local fire department played a crucial role in minimizing the impact of the incident. The safety measures in place at Halim Station were instrumental in preventing the fire from spreading and causing substantial harm.

Eva Chairunissa praised the collaborative efforts of all parties involved in resolving the situation swiftly and ensuring the safety of passengers and station personnel. She emphasised that the incident would not affect the ongoing trial schedule of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.

The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train project, a joint venture between Indonesia and China, is a significant infrastructure development to improve transportation connectivity and reduce travel time between the two cities. The successful management of the incident underscores the commitment of the authorities and organisations involved to maintain the project’s progress and safety standards.

While the investigation of the exact cause of the electric spark continues, it is evident that the well-coordinated response has prevented any significant setbacks to the high-speed train project. Passengers and stakeholders can rest assured that the safety and operational integrity of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train remains a top priority.
