New Regulation for Entering Indonesia on 17th July Onwards – On July 17, both Indonesian residents and visitors from other countries may enter the country without a PCR test as long as they have gotten a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Head of the Task Force, Suharyanto, signed circular number 22 of 2022 on Tuesday, July 8, 2022, and it contains the most recent guidelines for international travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. It applies to foreign visitors who enter Indonesia through checkpoints at airports, ports, and cross-border posts.
Visitors need to download the PeduliLindungi app before leaving and utilize it throughout their whole stay, as well as that they abide by the government’s health regimen requirements. Additionally, international travelers must present a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine card or certificate, whether it be physical or digital, that has been administered at least 14 days before departure.
According to the law, foreigners who are already in Indonesia and plan to travel both domestically and abroad must get immunized under the gotong royong, or mutual cooperation system. In addition to the language of the country of origin, vaccination cards or certificates must be written in English.
Some international visitors, such as those with diplomatic visas, service visas relating to official or state visits, and those who are simply passing through Indonesian territory, are exempt from having to show a vaccination certificate.
To stop the spread of COVID-19, this new regulation for entering Indonesia require both Indonesians and visitors to face stringent inspections, including body temperature checks. They will be tested for COVID-19 if they have a high body temperature, and if the test is positive, they will be quarantined.
The circular states that Indonesian nationals who want to travel back to their native country merely need to present a certificate attesting to receiving the second dose of vaccine no later than 14 days prior to departure. The circular further states that international travellers must receive two doses, with the following exceptions:
- Children under the age of 18
- Person who has official or diplomatic residence permits
- KITAS and KITAP holder
- Post-COVID recovery certificates from abroad
- Those who have specific medical problems
Travelers from outside who shows COVID-19 symptoms and/or have body temperatures more than 37.5 degrees Celsius must pass a PCR test at the Indonesian entry point.
On other hand, Indonesian citizens over the age of 18 who wish to travel outside of their country must present documentation of a booster immunization. Indonesian citizens who have recently completed isolation or treatment for COVID-19 and have been declared inactive in transmitting the virus but have not received a booster vaccination are exempt from this provision, as are Indonesian citizens with medical conditions or coexisting illnesses that prevent them from receiving vaccines.
