Visa on Arrival Extension Now Requires Verification at the Immigration Office

Share:

The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections explained that the extension of visa on arrival (VoA) now requires verification of the immigration office according to the domicile of foreign nationals while in Indonesia.

Director of Immigration Traffic Felicia Sengky Ratna continued, “After the VoA extension application is entered into the system, officers at the immigration office will check the foreign national’s data before the VoA extension is issued.”

Meanwhile, foreign nationals holding a visit visa with a validity period of 60 days who want to apply for a visa extension need to be guaranteed or sponsored by an Indonesian citizen.

“So, foreigners need to see their needs first. If they are going to stay in Indonesia for more than 60 days, they should have a guarantor from the beginning. If he/she will stay less than 60 days, then please apply for a visit visa without a guarantor,” Sengky advised.

Provisions related to immigration office verification in extending VoAs and visit visas are regulated in Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation (Permenkumham) No. 11 of 2024 Article 97, which is an amendment to Permenkumham No. 22 of 2023.

For foreign nationals who obtained their VoA at the airport immigration counter and want to apply for an extension online, click on the “Services” menu at the top right of the e-visa website. Then, at number 2, click the “Find Existing Stay Permit” button.

Fill in the foreigner’s passport number, nationality, and date of birth. Then, the foreigner’s VoA information will appear, which can be used to apply for a YoA extension.

“The Directorate General of Immigration applies digital-based services to facilitate the community, including foreigners. The ease of this service certainly needs to be balanced with procedures that filter so that foreigners in Indonesia stay in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Sengky.

The extension of the Indonesian Visa on Arrival (VoA) now requires verification by the immigration office according to the foreign national (WNA) domicile while in Indonesia. However, VoA extension applications can still be made online through the evisa.immigration.go.id website.

“The application for a visa on arrival extension can be made online, both for foreigners who use electronic VoA (e-VoA) and VoA in the form of stickers obtained at the immigration counter in the airport arrival area,” said Director of Immigration Traffic, Felicia Sengky Ratna as reported by Antara.
