Viral Video Shows Orange Cat’s Tail Trapped in KRL Train Door in Indonesia

Share:

A video showing an orange cat trapped in the door of a KRL Commuter Line train has circulated on social media after an incident on Friday night, September 4, 2026.

The cat reportedly became trapped as the train departed from Kramat Station in Senen, Central Jakarta. Its tail was caught in a gap at the bottom of the automatic train door, leaving the animal outside the carriage as the train travelled towards its next station.

Despite being dragged alongside the moving train, the cat reportedly managed to free itself safely when the train arrived at Pondok Jati Station in Matraman, East Jakarta.

Cat Freed When Train Arrived at Pondok Jati Station

According to the reported chronology, the incident began when the train doors closed at Kramat Station and the train started moving. The orange cat’s tail accidentally became caught in the lower section of one of the automatic doors.

As a result, the cat remained outside the carriage during the journey between Kramat and Pondok Jati stations.

When the train reached Pondok Jati Station and the doors opened, the cat’s tail was released. The animal then immediately jumped away from the train and moved away from the platform area.

There is currently no official information available regarding whether the cat suffered injuries to its tail or other parts of its body.

The incident has also prompted reminders about how passengers should respond when an animal or another potentially dangerous object becomes trapped in or around a train.

What Passengers Should Do in a Similar Situation

Passengers inside a train should immediately use the emergency brake if they notice an animal or dangerous object trapped as the train is about to depart. They should also alert the onboard security officer, known as Walka, as soon as possible.

Passengers can also report the incident through the train operator’s official social media channels. When making a report, they should provide the carriage number and relevant details to help staff identify the location quickly.

For passengers on the platform, attempting to rescue an animal after a train has started moving can put them at serious risk. Instead, they should immediately alert platform staff by shouting or using hand signals.

Platform staff, including announcers and Station Masters or PPKA, can then coordinate with the train driver and other railway personnel if the train needs to be stopped.

The incident also highlights the importance of reporting stray animals found near railway platforms. Passengers who see cats or dogs wandering close to the yellow safety line should inform station staff so the animal can be moved to a safer area.

Passengers travelling with pets should also follow the applicable rules of public transport operators. KRL and MRT services generally prohibit passengers from bringing pets without an appropriate carrier or cage and the required authorisation, helping to reduce risks to animals, passengers and railway operations.
