Viral Video on Tourists Complaining on Bali’s Unexpected Season in July

Share:

The “Dry Season” in Bali typically runs from July through August, so it is safe to assume that traveling to Bali in July would be the best time. Today, however, the weather is somewhat unexpected, with heavy rain instead of a beautiful day of Bali in July. Many parts of Bali might experience a constant rain beginning on the 30th of June and are projected to linger until the 10th of July 2023.

The unexpected rainy days during a supposedly dry season of Bali in July confuse and disappoint most tourists. Foreigners from all over the world visit the infamous tropical paradise of Bali island for the gorgeous beach and sunshine.

Those who travel across the globe spend tons of money to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime holiday on a tropical island, hoping they can soak in the sun by the beach and finally get a tan with a gorgeous view. However, the reality seems to betray them since the rain will continue pouring in Bali since last week, leaving tourists with only one option, which is staying at their hotels or villa.

Cahyo Nugroho, the Director of Bali’s Meteorological, Climate, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG-Bali), pointed out on Saturday, 1st of July 2023, that rain across broad sections of Bali is caused by low-intensity winds in the Indian Ocean area south of Bali and West Nusa Tenggara, which create rain clouds. The predisposition of this condition to produce rainfall is aided by warm ocean surface temperatures ranging from 26 to 30 degrees Celsius resulting in unexpeted rainy season.

Light to medium rainfall levels are experienced in east, central, south, and west Bali.

BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) states that air temperatures range between 21 and 32 degrees centigrade, with humidity between 60% and 95%. Winds predominantly blow from the east–southeast at rates between 4 and 34 kilometres per hour.

This unexpected rainy season inspires many foreigners to create funny videos of them complaining about Bali’s rainy conditions, making an “Expectation vs reality” video where the expectation part shows a sunny day in Bali that is shown on social media & advertising platforms, while the reality is them soaked in the rain.

One of the standout videos is from a digital creator named Bobby Makepeace with the social media handle @bobbymakepeace; his video about Bali’s unexpected heavy rain was posted in December last year, but since the unpredictable pouring rain season is kind of similar, Makepeace’s video is resurfacing again and goes viral once again.

@bobbymakepeace Rains a lot here 😂 but to be expected from Rainy Season… #bali #travel #traveltok #traveltrends #travel2022 ♬ Lol – Stepz & JTA

In his video, Makepeace seemed rather amused at how Bali rains more than the United Kingdom, which is supposed to be a tropical paradise with a ray of sunny sunshine by the beach. With a heavy sigh, Makepeace said, “Come to Bali they said, it’s a paradise they said. Nah it’s raining every day. It never stops. It’s always a storm. There is a bit of thunder, a bit of lightning and it is bloody cold. Where does the sun go? It disappeared,” while showing a pouring rain around him at the end of his video.
