Video Shows Bali Driver’s Joy After Receiving Tip for His Favourite Burger

Share:

A Grab driver in Bali has touched social media users after a video showed his heartfelt reaction to receiving a tip from an Irish tourist so he could finally try his favourite smash burger.

The driver was given the tip by Ava, an Irish woman visiting Bali, after he mentioned that he wanted to try a smash burger but could not easily justify spending the money on one with his earnings.

Ava later shared a video of the driver thanking her and her boyfriend after using the tip to buy the burger. In the clip, he can be seen opening the takeaway package before happily trying the food.

“Thank you very much to Ava and your boyfriend. Wow, we can try smash burger,” he says in the video.

Before taking his first bite, the driver adds, “This is the best burger of my life.”

His reaction after tasting it quickly became the most heartwarming part of the video. He hits his forehead and dances excitedly in his seat, clearly delighted by the meal.

At the end of the video, he once again expresses his gratitude, saying, “Because of your tip, I can eat smash burger.”

Ava posted the video on TikTok on 31 July, explaining that she wanted to show how much a tip can mean to someone working in the service industry.

“This is a thank you video I received from my Grab driver in Bali. It shows how life-changing tipping can be in the places we travel,” Ava wrote.

She added that the experience made her appreciate what she had, as an amount that might seem small to one person could make a significant difference to someone else.

The video had been viewed more than 773,000 times and received over 133,000 likes, with viewers also touched by the driver’s genuine reaction.

One Indonesian user praised the driver’s response as an example of sincere gratitude, while another encouraged people to consider tipping delivery and ride-hailing drivers.

The moment is a simple reminder that a small gesture can sometimes mean much more than expected, particularly for workers who spend their days navigating Bali’s heat, rain and traffic to serve customers.

For the driver, the tip meant something quite straightforward: finally getting to enjoy the smash burger he had wanted to try.
