Vegan Restaurants in Jakarta: Vegan Local Foods and More

Share:

In recent years, a healthy diet has gained popularity. People who follow a healthy diet generally avoid foods that are harmful to their health. One of them is vegan.

Veganism, in addition to being a type of healthy diet, is also a term for someone who does not eat animal meat or its derivatives at all and only eats vegetable food. Besides food, vegans do not wear any animal derivatives, either.

In Indonesia, especially Jakarta, vegan lifestyles are slowly increasing, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many vegan restaurants, both newly created and already running, exist to fulfil your desire for plant-based meals.

In this article, we would like to recommend some vegan (either fully vegan or have vegan options) restaurants that are already known for fulfilling your plant-based needs. Here are some of them:

Burgreens

Burgreens‘ “Plant-based Paradise” concept offers a wide range of delectable dishes from Asia (Indonesian, Korean, and Japanese cuisine), Western (e.g., Burger, Steak, Pasta, Salad, and Wraps), Vegan Boba, and various gluten-free desserts. Vegan Rendang Platter, Mighty Mushroom Burger, Japanese Katsu Curry, Sate Taichan and Maranggi, and Vegan Boba are among Burgreens’ signature dishes.

Burgreens also introduced “Green Rebel,” a meal-ready-to-eat product with Asian-inspired plant-based beef and chicken alternatives.

In Jakarta, there are six Burgreens locations: Dharmawangsa, Pondok Indah Mall Street Gallery, Mall of Indonesia, Pacific Place Mall, Menteng, and Oakwood Kuningan. The price ranged from Rp. 20.000 to Rp. 90.000 on average.

Mad Grass, with a mission to provide affordable vegan food, both in terms of price and location as well as health and taste, offers a diverse range of choices and types of vegan foods typical of Indonesian, Japanese, and Western cuisines through its thirteen tenants.

Mad Grass has a pop-up kitchen as part of its collaborative space concept that can be used by chefs or other culinary businesses outside of Mad Grass that want to start or offer the concept of plant-based food to Mad Grass consumers.

Mad Grass is located at Jl. Asem Dua No. 27, South Cipete, South Jakarta. The price ranged from Rp. 29.000 to Rp. 139.000.

With the tagline “Guilt-free Everyday Comfort Food,” Hejo Eatery delivers on the promise of a nutritious Indonesian meal. In response to a craving for Indonesian food, Hejo Eatery produces vegan versions of Indonesian dishes.

In order to introduce and invite people to learn about plant-based foods, they created the #SenenHejo movement, which aims to raise awareness of the benefits of eating plant-based foods.

Because they concentrate on takeaway food, their packaging and portion sizes are well thought out. They prepare the food quickly, and it arrives just like it was served fresh, and it can be easily reheated. Hejo Eatery is headquartered in Bandung, but currently, it has three pop-up stations in Jakarta as well: Kuningan, Kemanggisan, and Cikini, for those who want to try these delectable dishes. The price ranged from Rp. 30.000 to Rp. 128.000.
