The Legal Aid and Consultation Agency (BKBH) of the University of Mataram (Unram) has received a report of alleged sexual violence involving a New Zealand national in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Indonesia. The report states that three individuals—two women and one man—are victims in the case.
The allegation was confirmed by the Head of BKBH Unram, Joko Jumadi, on Monday (26 January 2026). He said the reported perpetrator is a New Zealander who owns a hotel in the Sekotong area of West Lombok.
“So, the victims are two women and one man. They reported sexual violence perpetrated by a New Zealander, the owner of a hotel in Sekotong,” Joko said.
According to the report received by BKBH, the alleged incidents took place on multiple occasions in July and September 2025. One of the victims, identified by the initials RN, was reportedly asked by the alleged perpetrator to marry him. The other two victims, one woman and one man, were friends of RN.
Joko said the three victims reported that they were invited by the alleged perpetrator to engage in sexual activity together. The incident was allegedly recorded on video.
“The New Zealander allegedly invited the three of them to have sex together, which was then recorded on video,” Joko said.
He added that the alleged acts were reported to have occurred more than once and took place in Lombok.
Legal Process and Evidence Under Review
Joko said the victims have expressed their intention to pursue the case through legal channels. BKBH Unram is currently assisting the victims in preparing the necessary legal steps.
“Whether it is the West Lombok Police or the NTB Regional Police, we are still discussing it,” he said. “What is clear is that we have evidence.”
According to Joko, the evidence submitted includes video recordings and statements from the victims. The materials have been included as part of the report received by BKBH.
Joko also stated that the alleged perpetrator is currently still in Lombok.
“The perpetrator is currently in Lombok,” he said.
During the press briefing, Joko commented on the nature of the allegations as described by the victims. He said the report suggests the alleged perpetrator has sexual behaviour that differs from what is generally considered normal.
“Joko believes the hotel owner has a sexual disorder and his fantasies differ from those of most people,” he said. “When he sees people or couples, he wants to have sex.”
BKBH Unram has not yet confirmed when the report will be formally submitted to law enforcement authorities. Joko said further coordination is ongoing to determine the appropriate jurisdiction for handling the case.
The case remains at the reporting stage, and no official statement has been issued by the police as of Monday. Authorities have yet to confirm whether a formal investigation has been opened.
