Poor people are defined as residents with expenditure per capita below (or lower) than the amount referred to as the Poverty Line.

The Poverty Line for the Province of Bali in March 2023 was recorded at IDR 529,643 per capita per month with a composition of the Food Poverty Line of IDR 365,437 (69.00 percent) and the Non-Food Poverty Line of IDR 164,206 (31.00 percent). Food commodities that influence the formation of the Poverty Line in rural areas in the same period are rice, filter clove cigarettes, purebred chicken meat, purebred chicken eggs, wet cakes, shallots, cayenne pepper, bread, cob/tuna/skip skipjack, and ground coffee & instant coffee (sachets).
