The Bali Visa on Arrival 2022. Everything You Need to Know Now!

Share:

Since the first quarter of 2022, the Visa on Arrival scheme has been back in operation in Bali, simplifying the way many foreigners have been able to travel to Indonesia.

For many, the idea of a paid Visa on Arrival is a relatively new concept, as prior to Covid, there was a free visa option. Unfortunately, at this present time, many nationalities need to pay a fee upon entry, which has understandably caused a lot of confusion.

In this article, Jessica Rahayu from LetsMoveIndonesia answers your most common questions about the Bali Visa on Arrival in 2022!

Firstly, what is the Visa on Arrival?

The Visa on Arrival is a scheme that allows foreigners to enter Indonesia without any pre-organised visa. Unfortunately, the free visa to enter Indonesia is not open to many nationalities presently, so most foreigners will now have to pay a fee upon arrival. The Visa on Arrival exempt nationalities can be found later in this article.

How many days does the Visa on Arrival provide the traveller?

The Visa on Arrival provides the traveller with an initial 30 day visa to enter Indonesia and is extendable (optional) for a further 30 days, limiting the maximum stay to 60 days within the country.

Is this extendable, if so, for how long?

The Visa on Arrival is extendable and can be extended one time for an additional 30 days.

How much does the Visa on Arrival cost?

The Visa on Arrival costs 500,000 IDR.

Can the payment be paid using card or any currency?

When you arrive you will need to visit the BRI counter (Offical Bank on Indonesia) and make the payment. We recommend that you use IDR 500,000 IDR or USD $35 as the best option.

If you do not bring cash you may need to visit an ATM at the airport, as the counter allegedly does not accept card payments. (let us know if you have experienced anything different).

How many nationalities can enter using the Visa on Arrival?

At this time, 75 nationalities may enter Indonesia using the Visa on Arrival scheme.

What nationalites may enter Indonesia using the Visa on Arrival?

Are there any nationalities exempt from paying the $35?

If you are from the following countries, you do not need to pay the Visa on Arrival fee: Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.

What are the negatives for the nationalities that can use the free visa?

For countries in the list above using the free visa, please note that it is not extendable. If travellers from the above nationalities would like to stay longer than 30 days, they will need to opt for the paid Visa on Arrival.

How much does it cost to extend your Visa on Arrival?

The cost for the Visa on Arrival if you choose to do it yourself is 500,000 IDR.

Are there any negatives for entering Indonesia using the Visa on Arrival?

Unfortunately, if you enter using the Visa on Arrival, you are unable to make a new visa onshore.

Can I do it myself or do I have to use an agent?

Yes, you can do it your self by visiting your local Immigration office.

What are the benefits of using an agent to assist with my Visa on Arrival extension?

If you choose to process the Visa on Arrival by yourself you will be required to visit your local immigration office 3 times: 1. To drop off documents 2. To do biometrics 3. To collect your passport. If you use an agent you only need to visit the immigration office 1 time for your biometric session. Collectively, using an agent will save you multiple travel/parking expenses, as well as hours of time you could be using doing something you love.

Why do I have to pay an agent to process my Visa on Arrival?

Visa agents transport the documents on your behalf, as well as guide you at immigration offices and assist skip the queue when possible. At LetsMoveIndonesia we also offer a free courier service that can collect your passport if you are in the vicinity of any of our offices.

Please note once again, you can process this visa yourself, using LetsMoveIndonesia saves you significant time and travel expenses.
