16th September 2022 – PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia Persero (ITDC), a state-owned corporation, vows to establish sustainable tourism in Nusa Dua, Bali.
ITDC has also completed the Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Certification (ISTC) Re-Certification assessment to renew the ISTC certificate that ITDC had previously received in 2019. The re-certification assessment is carried out to ensure that the destination manager remains committed and complies with implementing the principles of sustainable tourism.
The re-certification assessment was carried out after ITDC was declared to be able to meet the standards, criteria and indicators of sustainable tourism destinations and it was recommended that it be eligible to apply for re-certification (2022-2025).
This is in accordance with the standard criteria that are the reference in the certification scheme, namely the Minister of Tourism Regulation Number 9 of 2021 concerning Standard Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism which includes the pillars of sustainable management, social and economic sustainability, cultural sustainability and environmental sustainability.
The compliance with the sustainable tourism aspect will increase the value of The Nusa Dua area as a world-class tourism destination which is expected to be a model for other regions in Indonesia which will be developed with sustainable principles.
This assessment process involves key ITDC stakeholders to strengthen explanations regarding ITDC’s commitment to implementing sustainable tourism at The Nusa Dua through verification interviews. In addition, in the process, documents or supporting evidence were also checked, field visits to review physical evidence of the implementation of sustainability standards and ended with reading the assessment report to the area manager.
The auditors provide notes on good points for ITDC achievements, including the responsibility for managing destinations as well as monitoring and reporting that is carried out consistently and continuously.
ITDC is also considered to have involved feedback from local residents that is carried out consistently by accommodating the needs of the community that is relevant to the mission and vision of the company and is based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy.
ITDC also received high appreciation from stakeholders regarding ITDC’s role in providing COVID-19 vaccination services, ITDC’s attention and commitment to cultural sustainability, harmonization of relations between employees and companies and the development of new natural attractions Waterblow, Peninsula Nusa Dua.
