Police Chief Commissioner Yugo Pamungkas, the head of the Denpasar Police, identified two Indian nationals who reside in Bali, Gurmej Singh (21) and Ajaypal Singh (21), as suspects in a murder investigation. Fitran Robby Firdaus, a 39-year-old Jakartan, was murdered in Bali by the two foreigners.

Police investigators claim that the victim and the suspects fought while playing cards at the victim’s home, which led to the murder. A misunderstanding, according to the police, was the root of the altercation.

“There were some miscommunications between the victim and the suspect, They spewed slurs and foul language in English to each other,” according to Pamungkas, who made the statement at a press conference on the 16th of May 2023 in Denpasar, Bali.

Rajesh Sheen (40), who was discovered sitting by the side of the road with his head bound with a bloodied piece of cloth, was also physically beaten by the two suspects, according to Pamungkas, in addition to killing Fitran.

The two suspects, who entered Indonesia on vacation visas, admitted to murdering Fitran. However, detectives are currently looking into other potential causes. The wooden handle of a hoe was one of the items used as a murder weapon.

On the 10th of May, when the two Indian nationals arrived in Indonesia for the first time, they met the victim (Fitran). Fitran invited them to stay at his home while visiting Bali. Just 2.5 hours after the murder, the suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee to India via Ngurah Rai International Airport. Now that they have been charged, the two accused may spend up to 15 years in jail.

Initially, Bali police thought that the motive was robbery since Fitran’s place was in such a mess, even though nothing was missing. The police also thought that the two Indian nationals were trying to run away to Singapore since their tickets said so, while in reality, both of them were on the run to return to their own country, hoping that they would reach India before anyone noticed. However, since they left Sheen on the side of the road with blood all over his body, the police reports were faster. Bali police caught them right before they could get on their aeroplane to Singapore.
