A Pakistani national identified by the initials MUR (40) has been detained by officers from the Tangerang Immigration Office after allegedly causing a public disturbance in the Ciledug area, Tangerang City.

The arrest followed reports from local residents who claimed that the individual had created unrest and disrupted public order in the neighbourhood.

Authorities responded after the case was initially reported to the Ciledug Police and the Tangerang City Metro Police.

Head of the Tangerang Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office, Hasanin, said the office acted promptly upon receiving the report.

“We have coordinated with relevant agencies as part of Tangerang Immigration’s rapid response to public complaints and reports. The foreigner is considered to be causing disturbance and nuisance to local residents,” Hasanin said on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, as quoted by BeritaSatu.

Prior to the immigration intervention, the Pakistani man had been secured by police officers and later handed over to the Tangerang City Social Services Agency. At the time, he did not possess identification documents, which initially made it difficult to confirm his nationality.

A Pakistani national identified by the initials MUR (40) has been detained after allegedly causing a public disturbance in the Ciledug area, Tangerang City.

Head of the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division, Bong Bong Prakoso Napitupulu, stated that the incident had circulated widely on social media.

He said MUR was reported to have attacked residents near Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto in North Larangan using a long bamboo stick. The situation caused disruption in the area, including traffic congestion. A mobile phone belonging to an online motorcycle taxi driver or Ojol was also reportedly damaged during the incident.

“We conducted a check through the immigration database and the Directorate General of Immigration’s facial recognition system. Based on these results, we identified the person in question as a Pakistani citizen with the initials MUR,” Bong Bong said.

Further investigation showed that MUR held a Business Visit Stay Permit valid until May 2026. However, he was unable to present a passport or other travel documents when questioned by authorities.

The motive behind the disturbance remains under investigation. Officials have not released further details regarding the cause of the incident.

Medical Assessment and Further Handling

Authorities have also examined the individual’s health condition as part of the investigation process. Immigration officers referred the Pakistani man to Dr Soeharto Heerdjan Mental Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Bong Bong confirmed that the medical assessment had identified mental health concerns.

“The doctor’s examination concluded that MUR is experiencing acute psychotic symptoms and is categorised as a mental disorder. We are currently conducting further observation as directed by the medical examiner,” he said.

Immigration authorities have coordinated with the Directorate General of Immigration and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to ensure the case is handled in accordance with applicable procedures and human rights considerations.

Officials stated that further action will depend on the outcome of the medical observation. If MUR’s condition remains unstable, he may be referred to an Immigration Detention Centre for continued treatment. If his condition improves, administrative measures such as detention and deportation may be considered.

Hasanin also called on the public to report any activities involving foreign nationals that may disturb public order or indicate potential legal violations. Reports can be submitted through the Tangerang Class I Special Immigration Office’s official communication channels, including its social media platforms.
