An Italian national identified as JF (41) has been arrested by Denpasar Police following an alleged assault on his neighbour in West Denpasar, Bali. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over noise caused by cooking activities.

According to the Head of Public Relations for Denpasar Police, First Inspector Gede Adhi Saputra Jaya, SH, MH, the case took place on Jalan Gunung Soputan, Gang Ulun Suwi, Pemecutan Kelod. The suspect and the victim, Kadek R (29), are neighbours.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m. WITA. Police stated that the dispute began when the suspect was disturbed by the sound of the victim’s wife cooking in the kitchen.

“The reported foreigner from Italy was disturbed by the sound of the victim’s wife cooking and then argued,” said First Inspector Gede Adhi on Thursday, 9 April 2026, as reported by TribunBali.

Alleged Assault and Investigation

Police reported that the victim was initially asleep when the argument took place. He later became involved in the confrontation. During the dispute, the suspect allegedly slapped the victim once on the left cheek.

“The perpetrator refused to accept this and slapped the victim once on the left cheek. The hard slap caused pain to the victim’s cheek,” the police statement said.

The victim subsequently reported the incident to Denpasar Police. Authorities confirmed that the case is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit.

“The victim’s report is still being handled by investigators from the Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit, and the reported suspect is still undergoing questioning,” First Inspector Gede Adhi stated.

The victim has undergone a post-mortem examination at Bhayangkara Hospital. Officers have also examined the scene and questioned witnesses in connection with the case. The suspect has been summoned and is currently under investigation. He may face charges under Article 466 of the Criminal Code.

Video Evidence and Witness Account

A video of the incident has circulated widely on social media. The footage shows part of the confrontation and damage to the victim’s property.

The victim’s wife, who shared the video via her Instagram account @yuniliawt, provided her account of the events. She stated that the dispute began shortly after she started cooking in the morning.

“I was cooking here after 8 a.m. when he got angry and started banging on the wall because he said he was still sleeping,” she said.

She added that the suspect approached their home and acted aggressively.

“He came over angrily and kicked my motorcycle, damaging the rear end (as shown in the video), and also hit my husband, as shown in the video,” she continued.

In the same video, the victim is heard explaining the situation. “This is my house and my wife is cooking,” he said.

The victim’s wife also claimed that the suspect had previously displayed similar behaviour. “He hit my husband, who he had also hit before but didn’t have time to record at the time,” she added.

The video shows visible damage to a motorcycle, including a detached taillight frame. Police have not issued further statements regarding the extent of the damage.
