Based on reports from the police, it was revealed that the foreign tourist was named Ilya Sokolenko (28), from Kazakhstan. The Kazakh tourist has been staying at the hotel since the 31st of May, 2023 and occupies room number 116.

Initially, this Kazakh tourist planned to stay at the hotel for one month. He planned to check out and return to his country on the 31st of June, 2023.

“When he was found, the Kazakh tourist was entangled with a rope around his neck, hanging under a water tower, with a rope about one meter long,” added Sukadi.

When he was found, the Kazakh tourist’s tongue was sticking out, his head was tilted to the right, his hair was twisted, his arms were hanging down, and his feet were flat on the ground. The Kazakh tourist wore a black shirt, shorts, shoes and socks. He also wore a sling waist bag on his chest.

The police found no signs of violence or resistance on the body of the Kazakh tourist.

“At the crime scene, the police found some of the victim’s belongings, including paracetamol. However, we cannot confirm what caused the victim’s death,” said Sukadi.

Previously, a hotel employee named Ni Nyoman Putriani (48) came to the location to clean up the water tower area. However, Putriani was surprised when she saw the Kazakh tourist hanging from the water tower.

The witness said she was shaking and immediately asked for help from her husband, Nengah Budi, before finally asking the police and other officers for help.

Denpasar Police officers and Kuta Police will carry out further investigations into this case. However, the reason on why he decided to hang himself is still uncertain.

“The body has been taken to Prof. Dr. IGNG Ngoerah Hospital, Sanglah, for an autopsy and further examination regarding the cause of death,” concluded AKP I Ketut Sukadi.
