Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, has prepared many strategies and improved collaboration with local governments in anticipation of a probable increase in travellers during the Eid holiday this year, specifically towards some tourist attractions around the homecoming route.
The existence of tourist attractions along the homecoming route, according to Uno, can be a good stopping point for travellers to rest while enjoying their Eid holiday.
“This is done to break down traffic jams and crowds, as well as ensure that everyone is in good health because after driving 12 hours, we must stop to rest anyway,” said Sandiaga Uno during the Weekly Press Briefing, Monday 10th of April 2023.
Some stopping points Uno recommends for a traveller to stop by include rest areas, tourist attractions, and mosques scattered along the homecoming route.

The Eid holiday this year will be the first long holiday post the outbreak of COVID-19 and the lifting of public activity restrictions (PPKM) in December 2022. As a result, Uno predicts that the number of tourists will increase throughout the holiday.
He stated that his Ministry has worked with tourism agencies in districts, cities, provinces, and authority organizations at each tourist attraction to prepare for travellers. He also stated that regional governments and tourist agencies must act quickly to improve security, safety, and cleanliness throughout the holiday season.
“If during the (implementation of) PPKM, the focus was on health, now the focus is on security, safety, cleanliness, and sustainability,” he explained.
To draw tourists, Uno said that his Ministry is improving travel amenities during the Eid holiday, including rest areas along homecoming routes and tourist locations centred on mosques.
“We have recently launched many tourist destinations along the Eid holiday homecoming routes.” We inaugurated numerous tourism villages last year, and there are several rest areas and mosque-based tourist attractions this year,” the Minister pointed out.
The Indonesian government predicts 123.8 million tourists will travel during the Eid holiday period, which will help the country meet its goal of 1.4 billion domestic tourist trips this year.
