Indonesia Gives Visa Free for G20 Summit 2022

Indonesia will exempt all G20 Bali summit’s foreign attendees from the entry visa requirements. The benefit will apply to delegates and journalists during the event. The acting director general of immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana announced on Thursday.

Indonesian immigration provides visa-free entry to foreign delegates and journalists who will participate in G20 to ease their tasks, Widodo said in a press release. The notice is following policy No. IMI-GR.01.01.0738, issued on 20 October 2022, which has been approved and signed directly by Widodo Ekatjahjana.

About G20 Summit 2022

The 2022 G20 Bali summit is the upcoming 17th summit that will take place in Bali, Indonesia. This summit will be a peak event inviting a group of 20 Heads of State and Government delegates from across the world. It will be starting from November 15 to 16, 2022.

Under the Indonesian Presidency, the G20 in 2022 will bring the theme, ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger’.

The main idea will be focusing to discuss three main pillars, such as global health architecture, sustainable energy transition, and digital transformation.

Widodo added that the policy will act to support the country’s 2022 G20 presidency.

Applying For Free-Entry Visa

The visa-free entry will have a validity of up to 30 days and is ineligible for an extension. To be able to get the facility, foreign delegates and journalists will have to present the following documents:

  • A diplomatic passport, a service passport, or a general passport that is valid for at least six months.
  • A return or a one-way ticket to continue the journey to another country.
  • Proof of registration or invitation letter for foreign journalists or delegates.

“This policy is a form of support from the Directorate General of Immigration in the success of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency, especially through the ease of the immigration process,” said Widodo.
