Immigration Officers Detain Foreigners in Bali Over Viral Obscene Video Case

Immigration officers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali have arrested two foreign nationals suspected of involvement in a viral obscene video circulating on social media.

The suspects were identified as MMJ, a 23-year-old French woman, and NBS, a 24-year-old Italian man. Both were detained at the Immigration Checkpoint as they attempted to leave Indonesia for Thailand.

The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, confirmed the arrests and said the two were suspected of producing content in which they posed as an online motorcycle taxi driver and passenger.

“The perpetrators are suspected of being involved in the production of a pornographic video that circulated on social media,” he said.

Investigation and Attempt to Leave Indonesia

The arrests followed an investigation by Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement officers, known as Intendakim, into the movements of MMJ.

According to authorities, MMJ changed her travel plans shortly before departure. She had originally been scheduled to travel to France via Singapore on March 14, 2026, but moved her departure forward to March 13, 2026, with a destination of Thailand.

Officers had previously observed a pornographic video circulating virally on various social media groups. In the video, the female perpetrator’s face was clearly visible, allowing for easy identification,” Bugie said.

Officers also identified what they described as an attempt to mislead authorities. On the same day, MMJ posted a story on her Instagram account suggesting she was already in Phuket, Thailand.

Based on these findings, officers conducted checks in the international departure area of the airport and located MMJ alongside NBS. Both were then detained for further questioning.

Authorities said the video depicted a staged scenario involving an online motorcycle taxi driver and a foreign passenger. The individuals in the footage were later identified as MMJ and NBS.

Third Suspect Arrested and Legal Process Ongoing

Following the initial arrests, investigators from Badung Police continued the inquiry and detained a third foreign national, identified as ERB, a 26-year-old French man. He is suspected of acting as the manager and uploading the video to a digital adult content platform.

All three suspects are now under investigation and will face legal proceedings in Indonesia.

The Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, said authorities would continue to act against violations involving foreign nationals.

“We will continue to collaborate with relevant law enforcement officials to ensure that every violation is prosecuted according to the law,” she said.

The suspects were initially taken to the Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office before being handed over to the Badung Police for further examination.

Police confirmed that the individuals would first undergo criminal proceedings in Indonesia. Following the legal process, they may face administrative immigration sanctions, including deportation.

In a press conference held on March 17, 2026, officials stated that the case remains under investigation as authorities gather further evidence and statements.
