A four-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Klungkung Regency, Bali, was safely reunited with her family after being found wandering alone along the busy Ida Bagus Mantra Bypass.
Residents were moved by the presence of a German Shepherd that remained by the child’s side throughout the incident and appeared to protect her from approaching traffic.
The child, identified as Riansa Mori Uma from West Sumba, was discovered on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, in Satra Village, Klungkung District. According to witnesses at the scene, the toddler was walking alone near the roadside while the dog closely accompanied her.
Several residents reported that Riansa attempted to cross the busy highway. However, the German Shepherd repeatedly prevented the child from stepping into the road. During its efforts to keep the toddler safe, the dog was reportedly struck by a passing vehicle.
A rider travelling on a Yamaha N-Max motorcycle noticed the situation and immediately stopped to assist. The child was rescued from the roadside and taken to a nearby food stall while local residents sought help from the authorities.
Police Trace Family After Emergency Report
Residents promptly contacted the Klungkung Police through the National Police Emergency Call Centre 110. Following the report, officers from the Integrated Police Service Centre (SPKT), Klungkung Police, and Klungkung Sector Police were dispatched to the scene. They were accompanied by Satra Village Community Police Officer Aiptu I Wayan Antara.
Officers conducted an inspection of the area before launching efforts to identify the child and locate her family. Their investigation revealed that Riansa was living with her parents at a catfish farm on Jalan Raya Klotok in Tojan Village, Klungkung.
Police later confirmed that Riansa’s mother, Intan Wada Ridja, had been at home when the incident occurred, while her father, Febrianus Mori Uma, was working in Bangli Regency. Without her mother’s knowledge, the child had left the house on her own and walked a considerable distance towards the Ida Bagus Mantra Bypass.
The family also explained that the German Shepherd did not belong to them but to Joko, the owner of the property where they lived. According to the family, the dog followed Riansa from the moment she left the house and remained with her until she was found by members of the public.
After confirming the family’s address, police officers escorted Riansa home and safely reunited her with her parents. The child was reported to be in good health and unharmed.
