The incident reportedly unfolded after a domestic dispute between the foreigner and his wife. According to the Pancoran Police Chief, Kompol Mansur, the man, who is married with children, went into a violent outburst, targeting his two young children.

“The children were the targets. He wanted to torture them, abuse them, and even kill them,” Mansur explained to Detiknews. “Ultimately, we intervened to secure the children as they were only 3 and 2 years old, and he was carrying them around in his arms while shouting and making threats.”

Chronology of the Incident

The incident took place on Monday afternoon, 21 April 2025, when the foreigner, described as a black male of Caucasian descent, appeared to be intoxicated when he entered the supermarket at Kalibata City.

Having lived in the apartment complex for some time, he had been shouting in the vicinity before running into the supermarket and causing further disruption while holding his child.

Security personnel and residents of the building attempted to control the situation and protect the child. Mansur noted that the police were particularly concerned about the safety of the child, who the man threatened to throw.

“We did not attempt to harm him, but we did secure the child,” Mansur said. “We were worried he would throw the child, as he was making dangerous threats.”

In a surprising turn of events, the foreigner reportedly smeared cooking oil on his body, making it difficult for authorities to physically restrain him.

Despite the efforts to subdue him, the man became slippery from the oil and eventually slipped, injuring his forehead when he fell.

“After some negotiation, we decided not to arrest him but to instead take him to a hospital for treatment,” Mansur explained. “He agreed to be taken for medical care, and we ensured he was safe.”

The foreigner was later taken to Kramat Jati Hospital for treatment, where he received medical care for his injuries.

According to Mansur, the man did not face any immigration-related issues, as he was legally residing in Indonesia, though it was noted that he was supposed to be living in West Jakarta, not South Jakarta.

It has also emerged that the foreigner had been involved in previous incidents of aggression, and his wife had previously sought police protection.
