A foreigner-exclusive area in Ubud just got discovered by Deputy Governor of Bali

Deputy Governor Reveals Foreigner-Exclusive Area in Ubud

Many acts by foreigners in Bali have recently come to light. The Deputy Governor of Bali, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati, has revealed that an entire village in Ubud, Gianyar, appears to be controlled by a specific group of foreigners.

This was stated by the Deputy Governor, known as Cok Ace, in The Weekly Brief with Sandiaga Uno on the 20th of March, 2023. This event’s video was posted to the Kemenparekraf YouTube channel. “In Ubud, there is a foreigner who even calls it a certain country’s village because it is exclusive and closed between them, and does not know what is happening within the walls of the environment they are building,” he said.

Cok Ace initially focused on the behaviour of recent foreigners before the foreigner-exclusive area in the Ubud region case emerges. One of them is a foreigner who frequently rides recklessly on the road on his motorcycle.

“In the last few months, foreign tourists from certain countries who recklessly ride their motorcycles have disrupted the peace and comfort of the Balinese people, including tourists in Bali,” said the aristocrat of Puri Ubud.

“Some only wear underwear when riding three pillions on a motorcycle,” he continued.

He also provided an example of a foreigner who frequently misbehaves. Some foreign nationals even had run-ins with the locals and the police.

“They have issues with the community, the police, and even other tourists.” “There were foreign tourists arguing with their own friends a few days ago,” he said.

He also brought up the issue of foreigners operating businesses in Bali, such as spas and motorcycle training centres. He even discovered a village in Ubud, Gianyar Regency, that appeared to be a foreigner-exclusive area from specific countries. Deputy Governor Oka said this would be a priority, and they would be disciplined.
