The deadly bus accident of a group of Indonesian students that occurred in Ciater, Subang, West Java, killed 11 people.

The bus carried a group of students from SMK Lingga Kencana, Depok. The bus driver said that when he arrived at Jalan Raya Ciater, the bus rolled over because the brakes failed.

The driver said that the bus had indeed experienced problems, but he repaired it when the group of students took a break.

When the bus arrived at the intersection of Jalan Raya Ciater, the driver felt something was wrong with the bus brakes.

At that time, a car was also coming in and out of the intersection, and the driver could not hold the brakes. Thus, the accident happened.

The old age of the bus and the fact that it had not been inspected for feasibility were predicted to be the main causes of the accident.

As a result of this negligence, the bus allegedly suffered a brake failure, causing an accident and killing 11 victims in Ciater Subang on Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2024. In the bus accident, 10 students and 1 teacher of SMK Lingga Kencana died.

Police Chief of Traffic Corps Inspector General Aan Suhanan stated that the scene of the bus rollover in Jalan Raya Palasari Village, Ciater District, Subang Regency, is a black spot.

“This location is a black spot; accidents often occur here,” said Aan when reviewing the crime scene at the scene in Subang.
